falling apart.

I don't think i even need to ask this, but have you ever felt like your life is falling apart? I know i sure have. I bet a lot of people are probably experiencing that this week and this whole year. It is the worst thing that you could ever experience.

I know a lot of us have experienced this in different ways throughout our lives. Each time comes with a lot of emotion, pain, and heartbreak. All of those experiences are real. And i am sorry that they happened to you.

Let me tell you one of my "my life is falling apart moments." March 17, 2020. I was sitting next to my best friend by a pool by the beach in florida. (not a bad setting right?) With one notification of an email, the place that i love and the people that i cherish all were stripped away within the matter of 4 minutes. "Sorry, but we are going online for the rest of the semester. College is over. Come get your stuff, move home, and sorry, but you do not get to say goodbye you all of your friends or the place you called home for the last for years. Oh, and by the way, you have stay away from every human being for the next 3 months."

My earth was shattered. Not kidding, I cried nonstop for the next week. I was an emotional wreck. My whole world, quite literally everything i knew, was taken from me within a matter of a week. It was one of the hardest things i have EVER walked through.

I know in the grand scheme thing of things, i was pretty blessed because besides getting kicked out of college and moving home two months early, i was pretty unaffected by the aftermath of the coronavirus.

But that still did not change the fact that i was consistently sad and my world felt broken. It all fell apart and i could do nothing about it.

But this is what i clinged to and cling to every day since then.

"For the Word of the Lord is right and true; he is faithful in ALL he does."

Psalm 33:5

The word of God. The one thing that i hold onto that will never change because the author who wrote it never changes.

Charles Spurgeon, a hero of the Christian faith knew this fact well. Charles Spurgeon was an incredible teacher of God's word in England during the 19th century. He never attended any type of theological school, but yet was the most popular preacher in all of London by the age of 21! People from all over would come to hear him preach and by the end of his lifetime, he ended up preaching to over 10 million people. He founded countless numbers of Sunday schools, orphanages, a pastor’s college and is still very well known among Christians today for his writings and sermons. He was a man that was very effective for the kingdom of God because he knew the word of God very well.

The man knew his bible.

One of my favorite quotes from Spurgeon: "A bible that is falling apart usually belongs to a person who isn't."

Kind of cheesy, but no less true.

The Word of the Lord is RIGHT. The Word of the Lord is TRUE. The Word of the Lord is ENDURING. The Word of the Lord is INSPIRED BY GOD. The Word of the Lord is the ONLY thing that give us rest in a world that is weary.

Charles Spurgeon knew his bible well and because he knew truth, he was able to proclaim truth to millions.

What would our lives looked like if we knew scripture, the words of Jesus, that well?

Yeah, we might preach to millions one day and start a bible college and be the most famous preacher. Who knows that God has planned for us.

But what I DO know is that the word of God is an anchor in the storms of life and when we know it well, it keeps our world from completely going into shambles.

My life felt like it was broke into a million pieces back in March. But the one thing that kept me above the waves was the goodness of the Lord, the kindness of his heart, and the sweet words of truth that i clung to in his Book.

I pray that, like Spurgeon, our bibles would be falling apart so that our life will not be.

Run to the Word.

Because the word of Lord is right and true. Because He is faithful in all He does.

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

2 Timothy 3:16-17
